Cobalt Developments from Stratford-upon-Avon is creating
five new high-quality industrial-warehouse units off Kineton
Road and two local companies have had offers accepted before
a brick has been laid. Broadwell based Tompkins Construction,
which is building the Cobalt Centre, has bought a 5,200
sq ft unit and has been joined by Folly Mill Engineering
of Napton.
Mr Maples met representatives of both companies when he
toured the site. He said:
“It is vital that local companies have
the opportunity to expand but also stay close to their roots
and workforce.”
“There is clearly a demand and I am delighted that
two local firms have been able to realise their plans while
staying in the area.”
“Southam has a thriving economy, with an emphasis
on distribution, but it is also great to see firms in traditional
industries such as construction and engineering also doing
well in the town.”
Tompkins Construction hopes to complete the
development by September – allowing them to take early
occupation! Managing director Andy Tompkins said: “We
do a great deal of work in Southam, Leamington, Rugby and
Coventry so this is an ideal location and, of course, the
units are available freehold.
“The fact that we are moving here ourselves
certainly provides an extra incentive to make sure that
everything is finished off on time!”
Units range in size from 5,000 sq ft to 25,000
sq ft and the development will total over 36,000 sq ft when
completed. Chris Swan, managing director of Cobalt Developments,
added:
“We have had an encouraging level of
enquiries and the fact that the first two units have sold
so quickly and to local companies, confirms the decision
to proceed with a freehold development of this type.”
“The Cobalt Centre is ideally located since it is
close to Leamington Spa and Warwick, and the M40 links to
the big cities in the Midlands and the south east are very
close by.”
